The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in collaboration with United States Education Foundation in Pakistan has announced the Fulbright Scholarship Program 2018 for Pakistani students. Except for medical students, the students of other disciplines are eligible to apply in the Masters and PhD funded programs to study in the United States.

Covered by USAID and USEFP, this scholarship program covers the tuition fee, airfare, textbooks expenses, per month living stipend and also health insurance. The selected candidate of Fulbright Scholarship will also get visa assistance by USEFP as well.

US Fulbright Scholarship 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The criteria for Masters and PhD Degree Program are different. Here are the criteria for both:

For Master Degree Program

04 Years Bachelor Degree and Master’s combination having 16 years of education from HEC Recognized University. Fresh graduate students are also eligible to apply except MBA students who need to have 03 years of work experience as well.

For PhD Degree Program

Applicants need to have a Master Degree, MPhil Degree or comparable degree or 18 years of education from HEC recognised university. Candidates having work experience in research, teaching or public organisations in Pakistan will be given preference

Other Requirements

In addition to above mentioned educational requirements, the candidates need to meet the following requirements as well:

  • Pass GRE Test with minimum 138 scores in verbal and 136 scores in quantitative sections
  • Pass TOEFL Test

Fullbright Scholarship Contract Signing Requirement

The selected candidates need to meet the following requirement to pursue Fulbright Scholarship 2018:

The selected candidates need to sign a contract with USEFP, and for PhD students, it is also necessary to sign a bond with Higher Education Commission of Pakistan to return to Pakistan after completion of the study program and serve in Pakistan for the number years equivalent to the duration of Fulbright Scholarship Program.

The contract signed is also redeemable on a year for year basis for two years as long as applicants meet the requirement.

Ineligibility

  • Persons with a dual U.S./Pakistan nationality or those having a spouse, parent, fiancé or child over 18 years of age who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Employees of the Fulbright organisation or the U.S. Department of State and their spouses, fiancés, siblings, dependents, children and parents. For programs funded by their agencies, employees of USAID or the HEC and their spouses, fiancés, siblings, dependents, children and parents.
  • As a general matter, preference for Fulbright student opportunities will be given to candidates who have not previously received a Fulbright student grant.
  • Persons already studying in the U.S. or on a work/residence visa in any country.

How to apply for for Fulbright Scholarship Program 2018?

A complete application package includes:

  • An application form
  • Three reference letters
  • Your GRE score report and
  • Scanned transcripts, including an explanation of the grading scale of the university issuing the degree, should be uploaded. Please note that HEC-attested documents are not required for the application. Degree and transcripts need only be attested by the issuing authority.
